Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (L&D RN)

Position Overview

The Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse is responsible for providing comprehensive nursing care to adult women of childbearing age within the childbirth center. This position involves supporting patients through labor and delivery processes and caring for mothers and newborns in a supportive environment.

Shift and Schedule

• Shift: Nights
• Schedule: Either 3 shifts of 12 hours or 4 shifts of 12 hours are acceptable
• Weekend Requirements: Yes, unless the schedule posted indicates otherwise
• Guaranteed Hours: Healthcare providers may be called off during low census periods without charge or placed on-call in 4-hour increments

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of labor and delivery training experience required
• First-time travelers accepted only with 3+ years of L&D experience
• Certifications Required: BLS and NRP; AWHONN Intermediate preferred
• Epic experience is necessary
• No pending licenses accepted

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality nursing care during the labor and delivery process
• Monitor laboring mothers and newborns and respond to any complications
• Assist in triage and provide care in PACU and mother-baby units as needed
• Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes
• Participate in patient education and discharge planning

Additional Information

• Floating within the hospital is required; floating to sister hospitals is not permitted
• RTO (Request Time Off) restrictions: Maximum of 1 week, must work during holiday periods
• This unit comprises 7 labor beds, 3 triage rooms, 2 PACU, and 16 mother-baby rooms
