Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical Surgical

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) with experience in medical surgical settings, specifically with a strong background in orthopedics and general surgery. This position involves caring for patients in a fast-paced environment, and we welcome first-time travelers as well as local candidates.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality patient care in a medical surgical unit.
• Administer medications and treatments as per physician orders.
• Monitor and record patient vital signs and assess patient conditions.
• Assist with IV starts and manage tele-monitoring.
• Engage with patients and their families to provide education and support.
• Maintain compliance with all health and safety regulations.

Shift Details

• Shift: 3/12 hours, 7 PM – 7 AM.
• Every other weekend is required.

Qualifications

• Current KS State or Compact License is required.
• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience is required.
• Specialty experience in orthopedics is highly preferred.
• BLS certification is required; ACLS and PALS certifications are preferred.
• Experience with total hips and knees is a plus.
• Rural health experience is advantageous.

Patient Ratio

• Patient-to-nurse ratio is 5:1, with an average that is lower than this standard.

Skills Required

• Competency in starting IVs and managing tele patients.
• Previous charge nurse experience is beneficial.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
