Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA)

We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA) to join our surgical team. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic environment focused on patient care and clinical excellence.

Position Overview

The RNFA will be responsible for assisting in surgical procedures and providing high-quality patient care. The role requires collaboration with surgeons and other healthcare professionals, ensuring patient safety and optimal outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist surgeons during operative procedures, ensuring adherence to surgical protocols.
• Provide preoperative and postoperative care to patients.
• Monitor patient vitals and conditions throughout surgical procedures.
• Document and maintain accurate patient records and charting, preferably using Epic.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to deliver comprehensive patient care.
• Participate in continuous education and training opportunities to enhance skills.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (RN) license required.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a surgical setting, with a strong preference for cardiac, vascular, endovascular, or thoracic experience.
• Certifications: ACLS, BLS, RNFA (preferred).
• Experience with specific surgical procedures including but not limited to:
  • Vascular: Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm repair, Carotid procedures, etc.
  • Cardiovascular: CABG, Mitral valve replacement, etc.
  • Thoracic: Lobe resection, Thoracotomy, etc.
• Previous experience in a teaching or community hospital setting is preferred.

Work Schedule

• Day shift: 3×12 hours from 06:30 – 19:00.
• Floating may be required within the facility and to the Main OR as needed.
• Call duties: 1 day a week and 1 weekend every 4 weeks.
• Patient ratios: 1:1 during shifts.

• Agency Request Time Off (RTO) guidelines apply, including limited holiday time off.
• This position requires privileges prior to start (estimated timeline of approximately 3 months).
• Compliance with credentialing and clinical guidelines is mandatory for timely onboarding.
