Medical Lab Technician

Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled Medical Lab Technician to join our team. This position offers a night shift schedule from 9:00 PM to 7:30 AM, following a 7 on/7 off rotation, including weekends and holidays.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare specimens for laboratory testing.
• Perform routine and specialized laboratory tests.
• Conduct quality control procedures and troubleshoot errors.
• Maintain and perform preventative maintenance on laboratory instruments.
• Communicate technical information clearly to both medical professionals and laypersons.
• Assist in training laboratory personnel on routine procedures.
• Participate in continuing education to enhance skills and knowledge.
• Recognize and evaluate normal and abnormal test values.
• Exemplify professionalism and Standards of Behavior in daily interactions.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology or relevant medical/scientific discipline.
• Certification: Medical Laboratory Technician certification by ASCP BOC or equivalent, or relevant specialty lab certification.
• Experience: A minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in a laboratory setting, with a focus on chemistry.
• Preferred Experience: Prior experience in hematology and/or chemistry is highly preferred.

Additional Information

Candidates should be aware that during hurricane season, employees may be assigned to emergency response teams. The hurricane season runs from June through November, with peak activity anticipated in August and September.

This position does not require on-call duties, but candidates should be prepared to work every other weekend.
