Medical Lab Technician (MLT)

Job Description

We are seeking a qualified Medical Lab Technician to join our laboratory team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing a variety of laboratory tests and analyses in all core lab areas, including blood bank, while ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.

Shift Information

• Shift Type: Day, Evening
• Shift Length: 8-hour and 10-hour shifts
• Schedule: Varied afternoon/evening shifts, including every other weekend and holidays as needed
• Typical Shift Times: 1300-2130, 1430-2330, 1600-0030

Responsibilities

• Conduct laboratory tests in various areas, ensuring accuracy and timely reporting of results.
• Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure compliance with all safety regulations.
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality patient care.
• Participate in departmental quality assurance activities and contribute to process improvements.

Qualifications

• Required Certifications:
  • Certified Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) via AMT or ASCP
• BLS certification is not required as there is no patient contact.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in a medical laboratory setting.
• Recent blood bank experience is essential.
• Familiarity with LIS systems (e.g., Epic) and laboratory equipment used in chemistry, hematology, blood bank, urinalysis, and coagulation is preferred.
• Must be a generalist and able to perform in various laboratory areas, excluding micro.

Work Environment

The successful candidate will work in a fast-paced laboratory environment and will have opportunities for additional shifts if desired. A week-long orientation is mandatory, and clinicians must be present in-state during this time.
